cooperation and updating on the latest on a number of relevant topics
Director general
expressed his appreciation for the continued support received from the relevant governmental agencies from Malta and the importance of maintaining it.

From his part Ambassador in Saliba echoed this sentiment.

Director General of the Libyan Asset Recovery and Management Office Mr Mohamed Mensli met at LARMO HQ in Tripoli, the German Ambassador to Libya Mr Ralph Tarraf.

The meeting addressed the global task of LARMO and the importance of the continued support of Germany and the relevant German law enforcement agencies, in which the director general expressed LARMO’s full appreciation.

On his part the Ambassador outlined the important role of the embassy and appreciated the tremendous efforts being carried out by the office of LARMO

Both parties agreed to keep the line of communication alive .

Libyan asset recovery and Management office Participates in Euromed Summit of Economic and Social Councils

Mr. Mohammed Hami, in his capacity as Media Officer at the Libyan asset recovery and Management office (LARMO), participated in the Euromed Summit of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions held in Malta on June 18-19, 2024. The summit was attended by heads and members of delegations from the European Union, the Union for the Mediterranean, labor unions, and civil society organizations.

The summit included important discussions on pressing issues such as youth involvement in decision-making processes and . The office’s representative provided recommendations to enhance regional cooperation in these vital areas.

Strengthening International Cooperation: LARMO Director Receives Security Council Experts

Today, Thursday, June 6, 2024, the Director General of the Libyan Asset Recovery and Management Office Mr Mohamed Mensli received a delegation from the panel of experts established by Security Council resolution 1973 (2011), accompanied by the Director of the Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This visit marks the continued established cooperation between LARMO and UNSC .

The meeting discussed a number of key issues related to the effective implementation of United Nations measures under resolution 1970 (2011) and related subsequent resolutions .
The Director General briefed the team on the strategies adopted by LARMO including the progress of setting LPRF and global activities of the office

An official point contact was established to further the cooperation for the benefit of the Libyan people .

The delegation commended the efforts of the office in implementing these measures, which aim to recover and reinvent the Libyan looted assets.

A semi-annual meeting was held today, Wednesday, June 5, 2024, attended by the Director General of the Libyan Asset Recovery and Management Office, Mr. Mohamed Ramadan , along with the office staff. The focus was on internal office operations and the activities of each department, office, and section within the office.

Employee requirements and entitlements were discussed. At the end of the meeting, the Director General praised the efforts made and wished them continued progress and success.

Director General of LARMO Mohamed Mensli had reiterated the focus on enhancing the technical, particularly linguistic, capabilities of the office staff. This directive aligns with the policy adopted to support and empower Libyan personnel in managing complex files according to international standards and mechanisms, and especially in the English language.

This message was delivered during the graduation ceremony of a batch of trained employees, as the development of linguistic and technical capabilities is considered a fundamental requirement for enhancing the office’s performance and in achieving success dealing with international challenges .

Director General of the Libyan asset recovery & management office Participates in World Bank and IMF annual Meeting in Washington DC

Mohamed Mensli , Director General of the Libyan asset recovery & management office, participated in the annual meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund currently being held in the American capital, Washington. The meeting was attended by senior government officials and economic experts from around the world.

Mr Mensli’s participation focused on Libya’s efforts in recovering embezzled funds and managing recovered assets to enhance economic development and stability in Libya.

During the conference, Mensli held several bilateral meetings with government officials and international experts participating in the conference. Discussions revolved around enhancing international cooperation in asset recovery and exchanging experiences and successful practices in this field.

The participation of the Libyan asset recovery & management office in this conference reflects Libya’s steadfast commitment to combating corruption and recovering embezzled funds. It underscores the effective role played by the Libyan government in promoting transparency and enhancing international cooperation in this regard.

Signed on Thursday, March 7, 2024, by Mr. Mohamed Ramadan Mensli, Director General of the Libyan Asset Recovery Office, and Mr. Ibrahim Abu Shnaff, head of the Libyan National Security council, the memorandum aims to bolster relations and address mutual concerns.

Through this memorandum, both parties commit to an exchange of information and collaborative efforts on shared issues. This initiative is expected to make significant strides in the recovery of stolen funds and assets, marking a critical step towards enhancing economic stability and security within Libya.

The Libyan Asset Recovery and Management Office Participates in Key Meeting to Enhance National Capacities in Combating Corruption and Money Laundering in Tunisia

Tunis, February 15, 2024 – As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Libyan national capacities in fighting corruption and money laundering, the Libyan Asset Recovery and Management Office actively participated in the Steering Committee meeting held in Tunis.

The meeting, attended by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and various national and international entities, focused on discussing progress made and setting priorities for 2024, as well as endorsing the key points discussed.

The Office’s participation in this meeting underscores its commitment to continuously work on recovering Libyan funds and efficiently managing recovered assets, as well as enhancing international cooperation in this field. It also highlights the pivotal role the Office plays in promoting transparency and justice, and supporting the Libyan state’s efforts in combating corruption and money laundering.

The Office emphasizes the importance of this participation in expanding cooperation with international partners and exchanging essential expertise and information to achieve its goals in asset recovery and management effectively.
